In early-stage prostate cancer, brachytherapy has a proven performance that is on a par with benchmark prostate cancer treatments such as the radical prostatectomy.The indications for use of this approach are expanding, and modifications in brachytherapy techniques have resulted in improvement in tumour-related outcomes along with better quality of life and convenience for patients with prostate cancer.This presentation details the evolution of brachytherapy and clarifies its role within a growing list of prostate cancer treatment options.
