Low-Carb Diet Tested as Way to Slow Recurrent Prostate Cancer

Findings from a small randomized phase 2 trial showed that overweight men with recurrent prostate cancer (PCa) who adhered to an extremely low-carbohydrate diet for 6 months experienced dramatic weight loss compared with those who did not, researchers reported at the 2018 Genitourinary Cancers Symposium. A Pooled Analysis of 15 Prospective Cohort Studies on the Association Between Fruit, Vegetable, and Mature Bean Consumption and Risk of Prostate Cancer.

A study did not observe any statistically significant associations for advanced prostate cancer or prostate cancer mortality with any food group (including total fruits and vegetables, total fruits, total vegetables, fruit and vegetable juice, cruciferous vegetables, and tomato products), nor specific fruit and vegetables.
